From muddy courses to long-distance marches, Serina Espey-Wolf, TOPS MN 0691 Hutchinson, pushes herself to the next level, and inspires fellow TOPS members to do the same.
Her accomplishments speak for themselves — from completing the Mammoth March (20 miles in a single day) to taking on Tough Mudders, half marathons, 5Ks, 10Ks and trail races, she isn’t afraid to challenge her limits.
One of her greatest accomplishments was walking 20 miles in 9.5 hours at a Minnesota state park, all with two artificial knees and a 25-pound pack. Now, she is preparing for Project 300, a 200-day training commitment that kicks off Jan. 1, after being selected as one of just 300 participants.
At her Area Fall Rally, she shared her story with her presentation “Enjoying the Journey to the Finish Line.” Serina encourages members to do what they can with what they have and is an advocate for battling depression, which she says can have a big impact on one’s health journey.
“I enjoy encouraging others to do their best — to finish strong,” said Serina. “I give members hugs, some of which are the only hugs they get all week.”
She lives by the slogan, “No one is better than your best, but your best will make you better.”
